Megadeth is an American thrash metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine after his departure from Metallica. Known for their technical prowess and politically charged lyrics, they became one of the "Big Four" thrash metal bands alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. The band has sold over 50 million records worldwide and received multiple Grammy nominations.
