The Troops of Doom are led by Jairo "Tormentor" Guedz, founding guitarist of Sepultura and a defining force behind the band's earliest releases Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions. These records helped shape the sound of extreme metal in the 1980s. With The Troops of Doom, Guedz continues that legacy — not as nostalgia, but as a direct extension of that era's raw and aggressive approach. The band's sound is deeply rooted in early death/thrash metal, influenced by pioneers such as Slayer, Celtic Frost, Kreator and Possessed. The current lineup includes Frank Blackfire (Sodom), further strengthening the connection to the golden age of extreme metal.
